Introductory and Intermediate Watercolour Landscape Class

Course Description and Expected Outcome:
Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate artist this class is for you.
Students will learn various watercolour techniques including atmospheric painting, colour contrast, and light and dark contrast by exploring such painting subjects as sky, water, and vegetation. With this knowledge, students will be able to create their own unique landscapes. Beginners will develop new skills, while more advanced students may develop their existing skills with their own reference photos.
Cost of supplies is additional and to be brought to first class.
Supplies:
Beginner level students:
Watercolour kit with basic colours
Watercolour brushes in sable or synthetic
round and flat in large, medium, and small
Palette/mixing tray
Watercolour paper
(recommended: Nicpro Watercolor Kit available on Amazon: 24 colour tubes, sable brushes, watercolour paper, colour wheel, mixing tray)
1 roll of Craft paper gum tape
1 roll of Painters Tape
Total costs of essential beginner materials: Approximately $30 to $50
Intermediate level students:
The following list is a guide to use if your materials are lower quality and you wish to improve or supplement your materials.
Watercolour paint tubes (student grade Artist Loft, Windser Newton Cotman)
Cadmium red, Alizarin Red, Cadmium yellow (medium, deep), Phthalocyanine blue, Ultramarine blue, Cerulean blue, Burnt Umber, Black, yellow Ochre.
Watercolour pads as an alternatiove to tubes: It is important that they be of good quality or you will be disappointed in colour exactness and saturation.
Watercolour Paper 140lb
Watercolour brushes (student grade synthetic, professional grade, sable hair)
Pebeo Drawing Gum, liquid masking fluid
Stretching boards will be provided by the Center.

Beginner: Students are new to the art or craft being taught. No experience is required.
Intermediate: Students have a basic understanding of the art or craft being taught. Students have taken a class or workshop previously or have otherwise had hands on experience with the art or craft.
Advanced: Students have significant experience with the art or craft being taught. Students are comfortable and competent with the art or craft.
